There are many campers in this area, and this is a prize winning
story about a camper.

A rather old-fashioned lady, always quite delicate and elegant in her language, was planning to take a vacation for a week in Florida; so she
wrote a particular campground for a reservation. She wanted to make sure
that the campground was fully equipped, but she didn't know quite how to
ask about toilet facilities. She just couldn't bring herself to write
the word "toilet" in her letter.

After much deliberation, she finally came up with the old-fashioned
term "bathroom commode"; but when she wrote that down, she still thought
that she was being forward, so she started all over again. She rewrote
the letter, and referred to the bathroom commode merely as "B.C."

She also wondered that in case the campground owner was from the
United Kingdom, she should use the term "water closet" or "W.C". So, in
her letter, she asked if the campground had its own "B.C." and "W.C".

Well, she sent the letter off to the campground, and unfortunately
for her, the campground owner wasn't old-fashioned at all, and he wasn't
from the United Kingdom. As he puzzled over the woman's letter, he
couldn't figure out what the woman was asking about, as the "B.C." and
"W.C." business had really stumped him.

After worrying about it for awhile, he showed the letter to several
other campers, but they couldn't imagine what she meant either.

So, the campground owner came to the conclusion that the lady must be thinking about the location of a local Baptist Church and Worship Center,
and he sat down, and wrote the following reply.

Dear Madam,

I regret very much the delay in answering your letter, but I now take pleasure in informing you that a B.C. and a W.C. are located 9 miles
north of the campground, and are capable of seating 250 people at one
time. I admit that it is quite a distance away if you are in the habit
of going regularly, but you'll be pleased to know that a great number
of people take their lunches, and make a day of it. They usually arrive
early, and stay late.

The last time my wife and I went was 6 years ago, and it was so
crowded that we had to stand up the entire time that we were there.
It may interest you to know that right now, there is a supper planned
to raise money to buy more seats; and the supper will be held in the
basement of the B.C., with an overflow crowd to the W.C.

I would like to add that it pains me very much not to go more regularly,
but it is surely no lack of desire on my part; for as we grow older, it
seems to be more of an effort, particularly in cold weather.

If you do decide to come down to our campground, perhaps I could go
with you, sit with you the first time, and introduce you to all the
other folks. Remember, this is a friendly community.
