W1AW Operating Schedule

W1AW, the callsign of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) founder,
Hiram Percy Maxim, graces the station of the ARRL Headquarters, in
Newington, Connecticut.
The station transmits Morse Code practice, digital, and voice (phone) bulletins of interest to amateur radio operators throughout the day,
Monday through Friday, U.S. Eastern Time.
Modes And Frequencies (MHz)
===========================
CW and Voice are on portions of the 160, 80, 40, 20, 17, 15, 10, and
2 meter bands. RTTY is on all of the above bands, except for 160 meters.
All frequencies are in Megahertz.

CW frequencies include code practices, Qualifying Runs and CW
bulletins.
CWs = Morse Code practice (slow) = 5, 7.5, 10, 13 and 15 WPM
CWf = Morse Code practice (fast) = 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 13 and 10 WPM
CWb = Morse Code Bulletins = 18 WPM
Code practice texts are from QST, and the source of each practice is
given at the beginning of each practice and at the beginning of
alternate speeds.
Qualifying Runs are on the same Morse Code frequencies as the Morse Code transmissions. U.S. West Coast Qualifying Runs are transmitted on
approximately 3.590 Mhz by K6YR. See the "Contest Corral" section in
each issue of QST for the exact schedule for the Qualifying Runs for each month.
For these qualifying runs, underline one (1) minute of the highest speed
that you copied, certify that your copy was made without aid, and send it
to ARRL for grading. Please include your name, callsign (if any), and
complete mailing address. Fees range from $7.50 to $10...depending on
whether you desire "endorsements", or a certificate.

RTTY = Teleprinter Bulletins = BAUDOT (45.45 baud) and AMTOR-FEC
(100 Baud). ASCII (110 Baud) is sent only as time allows.

On Tuesdays and Fridays at 6:30 PM U.S. Eastern Time, Keplerian Elements
for active amateur satellites are sent on the regular teleprinter
frequencies.
A DX bulletin replaces, or is added to the regular bulletins between
8 PM U.S. Eastern Time Thursdays, and 8 PM U.S. Eastern Time Fridays.
FCC licensed amateurs may operate the station from 10am to 12 Noon,
U.S. Eastern Time...and from 1pm to 3:45pm, U.S. Eastern Time, Monday
through Friday. Be sure to bring your current FCC amateur license or a photocopy. The full operating schedule is noted below.
In a communications emergency, monitor W1AW for special bulletins as
follows: Voice on the hour, Teleprinter at 15 minutes past the hour,
and CW on the half hour.
W1AW and ARRL Headquarters are CLOSED on New Years Day, Presidents Day,
Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day,
and the following Friday, and Christmas Day. If Christmas and New Years
Day fall on a weekend, the following Monday will be the holiday.

Operating times are the same local times throughout the year, unless
your area does not do the time change to/from Daylight Savings Time (DST)
that the U.S. observes (DST from the second Sunday in March to the first
Sunday in November). During DST, U.S. Eastern Time is UTC -0400 hours;
the rest of the year, U.S. Eastern Time is UTC -0500 hours. For U.S.
time zones that are on Standard Time year round, the local time is ONE
HOUR EARLIER, when the rest of the U.S. is on Daylight Savings Time.
